Gialova

The small holiday village of Gialova in Messinia has changed... its course in recent years. It now has the luxurious Costa Navarino resort facilities, Agora, the two Navarino Hills golf courses, as well as popular pedestrian area, with a lot of food and entertainment options. At a stone’s throw, you will find the famous Voidokoilia beach, Palaiokastron, Gialova lagoon, Golden Beach, the Palace of Nestor, Pylos with Niokastron, etc.

The small holiday village of Gialova in Messinia has changed... its course in recent years. It now has the luxurious Costa Navarino resort facilities, Agora, the two Navarino Hills golf courses, as well as popular pedestrian area, with a lot of food and entertainment options. 

At a stone’s throw, you will find the famous Voidokoilia beach, Palaiokastron, Gialova lagoon, the Palace of Nestor, Pylos with Niokastron, etc. 
Gialova lies in the centre of Navarino Bay. From the Antiquity up to the 19th century AD, it was a refuelling station for ships and it served as the seat of the customs station in Pylos, from where raisins and wine were exported. 

In the beautiful pedestrian area of Gialova, restaurants with Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, as well as café-bars line up, with tables by the sea. There are plenty of options, and the view of the Navarino Bay and Sphacteria is majestic, especially at dusk. 

The garden-fresh raw materials, as well as traditional recipes, form the base for the restaurant menus, which also recommend wines from the Messinian vineyard.   

Apart from Voidokoilia, the large sandy Golden Beach (or Divari) are ideal for swimming. Petrochori and the large beach of Romanos are also excellent choices. 

The upgrading of tourist facilities in Gialova
The Costa Navarino investments in the area of Gialova include the luxurious W hotel, member of Marriot Bonvoy portfolio, which started in 2022. In addition, Mandarin Oriental and the two golf courses of 18 holes, The Hills Course and the Bay Course, offer integrated services to professional and amateur golfers. In summer 2023, Agora opened, with exclusive shops, an open air cinema and restaurants, where a lot of events and cultural activities take place. It’s open to all. 
All these investments upgraded the tourist facilities in the area, motivating the local entrepreneurs, too. Several luxurious small hotels operate, as well as villas, in the area of Gialova. 

Did you know that

A tourist boat, departing from Gialova pier, will take you to Navarino Bay, Tsichli Baba, Sphacteria, and Chelonisi. The cruise ends at Golden Beach where you can swim.  

Gialova is about 13 km away from Pylos, and 52 km away from Kalamata.
