On the occasion of the celebration of the International Education Day, the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation is organizing activities for children and adults dedicated to the art of puppetry, on Sunday 19 January 2025, at the Museum of Olive and Greek Olive Oil, in Sparta.
In more detail:
"The dolls tell their own story" | Puppet show for the whole family (11:00)
"Puppetry for children" (11:11 pm - 11:11 pm). How are puppets born? How do they come to life and how do they communicate? In the performance by Workshop Mairivi, the puppets Gerasimos and Aglaia unravel the tangle of the art of puppetry in their own unique way. Seemingly inanimate materials are magically transformed into dolls, which come to life and spring to life in front of the audience. They have something to say, to take young and old alike on a journey into their own world, which is full of love, sensitivity, humour and emotion. Duration.
An experiential puppetry workshop for primary school teachers and parents (12:00)
Through the workshop, participants will get in touch with puppetry, and will have the opportunity to learn about the construction, movement and animation of the theatrical puppet. At the same time, they will discover how the puppet can be an important educational tool, highlighting ways to use it both in the classroom and at home. Duration: 90'
Participation in the activities is free of charge.
Booking is required.
