Wonderful turquoise waters, view of the Aegean Sea, woody landscapes, picturesque fishing villages, coastal summer resorts with all facilities, but also beaches for those seeking privacy. Discover the coastline of Kynouria and have unforgettable holidays.
On the north-east side of the Prefecture of Arcadia, there is a series of beaches bordering with the Myrtoan Sea, and facing the Aegean. During your holidays, you can choose among famous resorts and beautiful villages, beaches with crystal clear waters, sand and white pebbles, organised or quieter and more secluded. They are surrounded by woody landscapes and “guarded” by the slopes of Mount Parnonas.
The coastal settlements of the coastline of Kynouria, such as coastal Astros, Tyros, Leonidio with the harbour of Plaka, improve their facilities to a large extent every year, in order to welcome visitors, including a lot of families.
Starting from the beaches of Astros , you can go further to the south, towards Tyros and then Leonidio. On your way there, there are a lot more choices for swimming, food and entertainment by the sea.
The lacy coastline with the small beaches of the Myrtoan Sea up to Tyros beach, such as Kryoneri, Tserfos, Zaritsi, Tigani, are a sight for sore eyes.
Tigani Near Tiros (you can also walk there), with pebbles, turquoise waters and trees reaching the seaside. It is organised. You can walk to the cave called Fournakia.
Tserfos A nice beach with sand and fine pebbles. Its waters are ideal for snorkelling.
Tyros beach Popular and organised, stretching over 2 km, along the settlement’s esplanade. If you choose to go swimming there, there are many options for coffee, food and entertainment.
Lygaria It lies right next to Tyros beach, below the hill Castle of Lygaria, and you can get there on foot. It stands out for its beauty and shiny turquoise waters.
Kryoneri Ten kilometres away from Tyros, you’ll find this beautiful organised beach, with cool waters. It was named after the springs that are found there.
Sampatiki About 7 km away from Leonidion, you’ll make a stop to admire from above the coastal settlement of Sampatiki, with its protected from the wind small harbour, where fishing boats are docked. It is famous in the region for its spectacular beach, with crystal clear emerald waters and white pebbles. At a stone’s throw, there are tavernas serving fresh fish and seafood, coffee houses and accommodation. The chapel of Panagia also lies on the beach.
Livadi The second fishing village in the region, near Sampatiki. Its beach has pebbles and sand. There are little tavernas and rooms to let.
Plaka At the seaside port of Leonidio, you’ll find two beautiful beaches - one outside the small port, the other within it. They are sandy with fine pebbles and beautiful waters. They are easily accessible. There are good fish tavernas, beach bars, etc.
Poulithra South of Leonidio stretches one of the most beautiful coastal destinations in Arcadia. The fishing port is almost untouched by tourism development and it’s protected by the woody slopes of Mount Parnonas. The beach is protected from the wind, with crystal clear waters and pebbles. There are small tavernas around.
Fokianos After Poulithra, following a beautiful route, 26 km long, with a lot of turns, going through the plateau of Tsakonia, you’ll arrive at Fokianos. It is a very beautiful beach, not very crowded. The bay is private and secluded, with transparent waters and white pebbles, few sunbeds with umbrellas the little tavernas place, and very few accommodation establishments. It is surrounded by lush green scenery.
