This coastline of Messinia borders with the Ionia Sea, but also with Navarino Bay. It includes some of the most famous beaches in the Peloponnese, like Romanos Beach, Voidokoilia, Golden Beach.
Romanos Beach Very big, sandy with beautiful, crystal clear waters, bordering with the Ionian Sea. Organised at parts, it faces the Ionian Sea, and it’s divided into peninsulas and many smaller beaches. The loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) lays its eggs there.
By the coast, the famous resort Costa Navarino is built, and Dunes beach has been awarded with a Blue Flag.
Voidokoilia The worldwide famous beach, one of the most beautiful in Greece. It has waters in all shades of turquoise, green and blue.
GialovaBeach.The beach is organised, with beach bars, and the esplanade is above it, with restaurants and cafés. In the remaining parts of the beach, on the side of Pylos lie the facilities of Costa Navarino.
Divari / Golden Beach A very long beach, with shallow crystal clear waters and tamarisk trees at some points. There is a modern beach bar and water sport facilities next to it. At the end of the beach lies the so-called “Fig tree passage”, a thin strip of water joining Navarino Bay with the Ionian Sea. Swimming there, you can visit Sphacteria for a dive there. North of the Golden Beach stretches the famous lagoon of Gialova.
