Built amphitheatrically in its bay, with a view of the rocky islets Romvi, Koronisi and Daskalio, Tolo welcomes with open arms Greek visitors and foreigners for years now. It keeps evolving as a tourist centre, in order to accommodate everyone - especially in summer.
The Bay of Tolo and ancient Asine are mentioned in Homer’s Iliad. Over the centuries, it was a secure docking station for various conquerors, Franks, Venetians and Ottomans. In 1686, Morosini set off from there with his army to besiege Turkish-occupied Nauplio. The campaign was successful, but in 1718, the region was once again occupied by the Ottomans. Later on, land was granted to refugees from Crete, and in 1834, the Minoa settlement was founded (named after the mythical king of Crete).
In recent years, the residents of Tolo -most of them fishermen- led a quiet life in their small fishing village. That was until the performances in the ancient theatre of Epidaurus started. Contributors and spectators -including celebrities and ship owners, looking for distant gulfs to dock-, appreciated the beauty of Tolo, its food, and authentic aura. Over the years, especially in the 1980s, it became a widely popular destination.
Along Tolo stretches Psili Ammos beach. The village has everything the visitor wants: Fish tavernas, beach bars, cafés, clubs, hotels, shops. Water sport enthusiasts can rent canoes, pedalos, jet skis, go kite surfing and sailing. Scuba diving enthusiasts will explore the beautiful seabed. Excursion vessels make short visits to Spetses and Ydra.
With Tolo as your point of departure, you can visit beautiful nearby beaches. At a distance of 500 m away from Tolo, you’ll find yourselves on the small beach of ancient Asine, next to the archaeological sitewith pebbles and crystal clear waters (also known as Kastraki). On the other side of the peninsula, stretches the big beach Plaka Drepanou, with the settlement of the same name. It is one of the most famous beaches in Argolis. It combines sand and pebbles, offering a plethora of swimming, food and entertainment options.

Kondyli, a long beach, organised in good part.

The rocky islets in the Bay of Tolo
In the Bay of Tolo, the rocky islets Romvi, Koronisi and Daskalio emerge from the emerald waters, creating an idyllic image. They are unpopulated, with small coves, suitable for swimming and fishing. The can be reached by canoe, pedalo or boat, and one can walk them. In Koronisi lies the chapel of Agioi Apostoloi.
